Silent Night, Holy War

      The gospels reveal the events of Jesus' birth on earth, but Revelation 12 opens our eyes to the view from heaven?

      In that text Jesus raised John out of his dank prison cell at Patmos and into the heavenly realms. Then He showed John His birth from heaven's view.

      And it was awesome!

      When I discovered the scenes John saw, my eyes widened in wonderment. It was that text that inspired the writing of Silent Night, Holy War. I wrote it in story form so that everyone can easily understand it.

      Here is an excerpt describing what occurred at the cave when Jesus was born:

Outside, the two armies were edging closer and closer to the defining moment that would determine which side would win: darkness or light. It was then that Satan's foul promise to his hordes was fulfilled and another sign appeared in heaven: 'An enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads, His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour the child the moment he was born.

The sign in heaven was an instant away from manifesting in the war on earth . . . at the very mouth of the cave. There stood the scarlet dragon before his minions . . . one third heaven's former angels . . . poised to murder the child. He couldn't afford to miss this strategic opportunity to stop God's redemptive plan once and for all. Anticipation among the demons rose to a fevered pitch. Could they win? They had not yet won a single battle against God. Could they do it this time?     

      As you read about the pitched battle that followed, you will understand anew why Christmas music is filled with triumph and joy. You will sing the grand carols with deeper feeling than ever. This year you will experience Christmas on a new level.
