You might know someone who rejects Jesus because He was born a Jew.

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes. (Revelation 7:9-10)

      Do not reject Jesus as Savior because He was born a Jew. The Bible says that, " . . . without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins" (Hebrews 9:22).

      Jesus did not shed His skin on the cross, rather, He shed His blood.

      The idea of racial supremacy is one of hell's greatest deceptions. Deifying one's ethnicity to look condescendingly upon another race is not new to history. And it never ends well. As pride comes before a fall, so the spirit of supremacy ends in disgrace. It ultimately shames those who instigate it, humiliates those who are betrayed by it and devastates those who are victims of it.

      Hitler, for instance, stirred a small, virulent cluster of Germans to believe in supremacy. His megalomaniac madness resulted in millions of lives being disrupted and destroyed. Likewise, in WWII, Japanese leaders inspired their soldiers to boast to Pacific islanders, "We are the Lords of the universe." This self-puffed glory ended with the atomic bomb falling upon Hiroshima.

Every nation built upon a sense of supremacy has been destroyed. Every individual who feels innately superior will be heaved upon an ash heap of disgrace.

Worse still, the belief in racial supremacy may rob some of salvation; after all, such pride can stop a person from sensing their need of salvation. Each of us is but a passing breath in the winds of time. No one is invincible or superior. God sees and despises pride. Without a Savior, your infamous reputation will fade and you may be banished from heaven forever.

So, why was Jesus born a Jew? Not because God favored the color of Jewish skin, but because of Abraham's faith. In fact, Abraham was not a Jew when he was justified by faith. He was an Assyrian living in Ur, a city in today's Iraq. Salvation came by the Jews (John 4:22) because of their lineage of faith, not because of their bloodline or skin.

The issue, then, is faith, not racial distinction. Only faith, not ethnicity, can please God (Hebrews 11:6). This is the only distinctive that gives you an eternal advantage. All else fails. "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Reread today's scripture. Notice the universal collection of people gathered before God. They will come from every nation, every tribe, every language, and every people type (culture).

Will you be among them? If so, are you telling others how to be a part of this great gathering? These are they who humbly came to the cross, confessed their sins - especially the sin of self-oriented pride - and will reign with Christ forever.
