FALSE ACCUSATIONS

How do you handle lies told about you? Read today’s edition of FaithWalk: Courage for the Journey.

Read Carefully:”Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.”
(Romans 8:33 ESV)

Did you know that Satan regularly makes accusations against you before God? John recorded this in Revelation 12:10:

“And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.’”

Every blunder on your part sends the enemy racing to God’s throne to point it out, perhaps hoping that God will renounce your salvation.

The Son of God is seated beside His Father, however, speaking as your Advocate, declaring that His blood took all your sins away. When Jesus died on your behalf, your sins were separated from you as far as east is from west (Psalm 13:12). That is infinite separation.

Your salvation is based upon legal fact more than emotion. The penalty of sin is death (separation). To remove your guilt to give you life, then, required a legal action. Someone had to pay the death-price of your sin.

Thus, we read of the legality behind your salvation. When you confess your sins, God is faithful (unwavering in His promise) and just (legally bound to His Son’s death) to forgive and cleanse you (see 1 John 1:9.)

Thus, Satan’s condemning arguments about you before God are illegal and powerless. So, he turns and spews his hateful accusations before your conscience.

Here is where you need to stand firm and preach the Gospel to your own heart. If you are allowing Satan to burden you with a sense of guild and dirtiness, you are letting him diminish the power and freedom God established for you at the cross.

Read these next two verses and be encouraged:

“…how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Heb 9:14).

“…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb 10:22).

Satan’s purpose in whispering accusations into our conscience is to rob us of the freedom found in Christ. Forbid him from robbing you of the freedom of conscience Jesus paid to heavily to secure on your behalf.

Here is a prayer to offer:

“Dear God, it is hard at times not to feel unworthy when Satan reminds me of sins I committed. I praise and thank you, however, that you have buried my sins in the deepest sea to be recalled no more. I am trusting the words the prophet wrote of You, saying, You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19). I will honor Your Son’s death on my behalf by refusing to listen to Satan’s accusations and walk in the freedom Jesus gave to me when He died for my sins. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
